Norwood Conservation Commission Approves Emergency Water Main Certification for Willowood School
NORWOOD — June 18, 2026 — Norwood Conservation Commission approves emergency water main certification to address water quality problems at Willowood School. The commission voted unanimously Thursday to authorize the Norwood Department of Public Works to install 150 feet of 8-inch water main behind the school, the first phase of a three-part fix for chronic low disinfectant levels caused by a dead-end distribution loop. Mark Ryan, Director of Public Works and Town Engineer, told the commission the DPW has been flushing mains near the school multiple times a week "as a band-aid" during warm months. Nick Guglietti of Stantec said the full loop connection to Highland Cemetery would span roughly 700 feet; a Notice of Intent covering the remaining approximately 550 feet must be filed by July 8 for the commission's July 16 meeting. The commission also unanimously approved an amended order of conditions for Moderna Therapeutics' electrical upgrade at One Moderna Way, issued an order of conditions for a saltwater in-ground pool at 564 Nickel Street, and elected Catherine as Chair, Kinsey as Vice Chair, and Mark Mandigo as Treasurer.
