Norwood Schools Delay Vote on Free Cash Policy
School Board · Meeting of August 27, 2026
Norwood School Committee stalls town free cash policy over vague reserve rules. The panel voted 5-0 to consult its Finance Committee liaison before finalizing a policy setting a $1 million free cash floor, after a member warned "there is so much discretion in this" and said officials "can tell us to pound sand." Members also clashed with the town over a scaled-back $300,000 elementary-schools facilities study, after one member said a revised plan reached another board "without our consent." Superintendent Luff signed $8,574,707.66 in summer warrants, announced executive secretary Priscilla's November 30 retirement after roughly 32 applications for her replacement, and unveiled the finished 2026-2031 strategic plan. The board also learned the now-dissolving Middle School Building Committee approved $500,000 toward two town land parcels for a parking lot.
