Select Board Approves Grid Station, Two New Licenses

Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Norwood Select Board confirms new treasurer, presses police on surveillance-camera privacy. Police Chief Chris Paddle detailed the department's license-plate reader program, saying it helped solve a 2021 murder and 2025 shootings and recovered an at-risk 17-year-old the day of the meeting, while cutting data retention from 30 to 14 days after ACLU concerns. The board unanimously confirmed Stephanie Foley as permanent treasurer and collector and approved a National Grid regulator-station relocation, a new liquor license for a Providence Highway restaurant and a new auto dealer's license for a Volkswagen dealership changing ownership.

Selectman Donnelly said the Capital Outlay Committee deferred about $1.3 million in projects to guard against a projected $8 million to $10 million fiscal 2028 deficit, and the board voted to send the MWRA a letter opposing a $1.3 billion sewer-overflow plan Donnelly called "just, it's absurd," estimating it could cost Norwood $32 million. A $5,000 Subaru of New England scoreboard donation passed 4-1 with one abstention.
